THE WHISPERING CALL is the dramatic story about one man's
lone journey along the coast of West Africa. The story reflects Larry
Hunter's experiences amoung various ethnic groups of West Africa,
including the Temne, Krio, Aku, Fula, Mandinka, Bassa and Yoruba.
As a boy growing up in Houston, Texas, Larry heard stories and saw
movies about a place called Africa. The stories and movies projected
the image of primitive natives living in jungles.
As a student at Wiley College in East Texas, Larry met an African professor.
The professor was a wise and intelligent man who spoke English fluently.
Larry became curious. "There must be another side to Africa," he thought.
"I must go there one day."
Larry Hunter's creative writing style invites the reader on a jouney to
adventure, love and humour. Journey with Larry through experiences
that would enhance his life, values, the appreciation for family and for
different races of people.
