Ten years ago, I was hired on as a writer-in-the schools.  This is when I introduced the magic of writing and playwriting to my classes.  Most kids are reluctant about writing, so I had to make some adjustments.  Each day, I combined theater, poetry and creative writing from each student writings.  The last assignment was acting out what each one had created. Even with poetry, we called it "poetry jam."  They were amazed of what could come from something they wrote on paper.  The magical part was, I had only one hour with each class.  This is why I decided to organize Colourwhirl Inc. Youth.  Underthis program I developed two projects, the R.L.T. DRAMA KIDS 21st CENTURY and YOUNG WRITER VOICES IN THE PARKS.  It was magical when the teachers and principals told me that the activity enhanced self-esteem, confidence and most of all, a comfort zone toward taking the writing test.

Colourwhirl Inc. Youth is a group of elementary and middle school actors and actresses who progressed out of the common classroom through self-discipline and focusing on what it took to be a young actor and actress.  From the teaching and caring of their teacher, playwright and author Larry Hunter, they glided into the world of magic. Colourwhirl Inc. Youth doors are open to other young potential actors and actresses from 4th to the 8th grade.
